About Westlife

Formed in July 1998, with the members Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, and Brian McFadden.

Signed by Simon Cowell and are currently managed by Louis Walsh.

1998 opened for the 'Backstreet Boys' concert in Dublin. Later that year, they won Best New Tour Act at the Smash Hits Poll Winners Party.

1st three singles went straight to #1: "Swear It Again" (March 1999); "If I Let You Go" (August 1999); "Flying Without Wings"(October 1999).

First No.1 artist of the new millennium with their double-A-side single, "I Have a Dream" / "Seasons in the Sun", which knocked Cliff Richard's "The Millennium Prayer" off the top spot.

November 2000: duet with Mariah Carey on the Phil Collins classic "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" and the ballad "MyLove" (both reached #1).

In 2001: launched their first world tour, unofficially nicknamed "The No Stools Tour", after their reputation for performing whilst perched on stools!

November 2001: 3rd album "World of Our Own".

Singles from this album: "Uptown Girl", "Queen of My Heart" and "World of Our Own" all went to #1. This album led to their 2nd tour(Europe and UK).

November 2002: released ''Greatest Hits album, 'Unbreakable - The Greatest Hits Vol. 1', amidst rumours of a split.

October 2002: first single from this album, "Unbreakable". 2003: toured the UK and Europe with the greatest hits, and still shrugged off rumours of a split.

November 2003: released 4th studio album 'Turnaround' (reached#1). 'Turnaround', included the hit singles "Hey Whatever", "Obvious", and their twelfth #1 single, a cover of Barry Manilow's "Mandy". 2003: won 'Record of the Year' for the 3rd time in 5 years.

On 9 March 2004, just three weeks prior to embarking on their fourth world tour, Bryan McFadden left the band to spend more time with his family and work on solo projects.

November 2004: released 'Allow Us to Be Frank', a Rat Pack-inspired album. Before the album release, Westlife jetted up and down the UK to find "the perfect fan" to help promote the album and, after X-factor style auditions, they found Joanne Hindley (who later appeared on X-factor).

2006: signed a brand new FIVE ALBUM deal with Sony/BMG. November 20th 2006: released their 8th studio album, 'The Love Album', consists of all covers of love songs - biggest selling album in 2006 for SonyBMG, selling 1 million copies. First single from

'The Love Album' was a cover version of Bette Midler's classic "The Rose", which became their 14th UK #1 single

Have performed duets with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Mariah Carey, Donny Osmond, Lulu, Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Lionel Richie, Ronan Keating. Claudia Schiffer and Vinnie Jones have alsostarred in their music videos.

On June 1st, 2008, Westlife marked their 10th anniversary with a concert in Croke Park, Dublin which saw more than 82,000 fans attending the special occasion.

Music Week revealed on their website that Westlife is the official third top touring act within the years 2005-2008, while they were 7th top touring act of 2008.
