Westlife: 'We're over breaking America'

Westlife have insisted that they are no longer concerned with breaking America.

The Irish boyband cracked the US Top 20 with their debut single 'Swear It Again' in 2000, but have never scored a follow-up hit across the pond.

Their latest album Where We Are features production from several prestigious American producers, including Ryan Tedder and Brian Kennedy, prompting rumours that they are plotting another assault on the lucrative US market.

However, group member Mark Feehily claimed that this is merely a coincidence.

"We looked outside the box on this album and that brought us to America as well as other places in the world - London, Ireland, everywhere. It wasn't a conscious decision to break the States or anything," he told DS.

"With America, we're over the fact that we haven't broken it. If it ever comes up as an opportunity, we'll definitely take it, but we don't design things to try and break America anymore."

Westlife's Where We Are LP charted at number two behind Susan Boyle's I Dreamed A Dream on yesterday's UK albums chart.
