Westlife's Mark Feehily has blamed the time difference in Australia for former member Brian McFadden's lack of contact with the band.
Mark, 29, said: "Brian's living in Australia at the moment with Delta (Goodrem) and he's kind of carving himself his own career out there.
"I haven't seen or heard much from him really but it's a different time zone and different part of the world so that's to be expected."
Asked whether there was a space for Brian if he wanted to rejoin the band, Mark said: "I don't know. We never say never but at the moment we're very happy how we are."
Westlife are having a bit of time out from touring right now, but they are still busy working on an album which they aim to release later this year.
"We're gathering songs for a new album, hopefully we'll have enough songs for this winter, if we don't then it'll be next summer or next winter. Instead of putting an album out each year we want to put out the best album we can," Mark said.
Mark, who was spotted out at the Bruno premiere in London with boyfriend Kevin McDaid, said he thought "uber gay" characters such as Sacha Baron Cohen's fashionista Bruno were helpful in beating homophobia.
"I think if he makes people laugh then it begins to dismantle things," he said.
"He's the ultimate - he's a bit of this type of gay person and a bit of that. He's a few of the stereotypes altogether and he's making people laugh and as long as people aren't afraid of him then he's achieving something."
