The charity football match that Nicky will play at on 14 May 2009 will be broadcasted on TV too at 7pm on ITV4.

Kian's sick dad stays home as singer weds Jodi in Barbados

Kian Egan's dream wedding to Jodi Albert was tinged with sadness when his cancer-stricken father was too sick to travel to Barbados to see the couple marry.

Kevin Egan, who is receiving treatment for his illness here in Ireland, urged his son to go ahead with the €1m showbiz wedding without him.

"Kian's dad has been battling cancer for some time, and the doctors advised him not to fly that sort of distance to that sort of heat," said one source.

"But he wouldn't have wanted anything to stop them having their big day," the source added.

The couple tied the knot in sun-kissed Barbados at midday yesterday in one of the most highly anticipated showbiz weddings of the year.

Westlife star Kian (29) and actress-turned-singer Jodi (25) got engaged on Christmas Day 2007 after being together for four years.

The pair decided on the Caribbean location for their wedding after being on holidays there last year.

Despite dad Kevin's absence, Kian was surrounded by his other family members, including his mother Patricia, brothers Tom, Gavin and Colm, and sisters Marielle, Vivienne and Fenella.

A gospel choir serenaded Kian and Jodi with the song Love Is In The Air as they took their wedding vows on Turtle Beach on the paradise island of Barbados.

The couple were dressed all in white as were most of the guests attending the bash at the Grand House Hotel.

Official photographers from OK! magazine covered the big event.

After the ceremony a Caribbean steel band played as guests sipped champagne and congratulated the couple before heading off for the reception in a nearby mansion, which X Factor boss Simon Cowell usually rents out when he holidays in Barbados.

Cowell couldn't make yesterday's ceremony as he was busy working in America.

And many were glad to be dressed in white as the afternoon sun blazed down on them, sending temperatures soaring.

Two of the exceptions to the all-white look were pop manager Louis Walsh, who wore black trousers, and Denis Demond of MCD, who had a blue shirt.

The night before the wedding all the guests met up for a lengthy dinner at the Cliff Restaurant, which has panoramic views out over the blue ocean.

And the celebrations will continue again today with Kian and Jodi hosting a special barbecue on the beach for all their lucky guests.

Jennifer O Brien’s Barbados Diary

It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. And I’ve spent worse days than eyeing up Kian Egan, as he hit the waves in Barbados.

There is no doubt about it, the Sligo lad sent temperatures soaring, as he tore around the sea on a jetski in front of his hotel.

In fairness I don’t think there’s a women in the world who could steal him away from Jodi Abert, as the pair are inseparable.

Sceptics can look away now. This pair are really in love. Even after living in each other pockets during Kian’s year off, they have rarely spent one moment without each other, as they prepared for this moment.

From breakfast to dinner to bedtime, there’s never one without the other.

And as they ate brekkie on the eve of the wedding the pair couldn’t have looked more natural and at ease with each other.

Then again it would be hard to be in a bad mood on this island.

With turquoise seas, white sands and laidback locals this is heaven on earth.

I met a Barbadian on the beach yesterday, called Eddie and he told me about his time working on a reiki on actor Pewter Otolle, he didn’t know who Westlife were, but he knew the score.

"That fella got himself a pretty lady, but your Irish men are going to fry like that chicken."

He’s not wrong there.

Set For Dream Barbados Wedding

Westwife-to be Jodi Albert, takes a stroll in the sunny Caribbean, showing off the sexy curves, that will today make Kian Egan one of the luckiest men alive.

The 25 year old beauty, and fiance Kian Egan, were snapped relaxing on a Barbados beach as the hours counted down, to the showbiz wedding of the year.

Londoner Jodi has never looked so good, while a buffed up Kian, 29, obviously had hit the gym, a lot during the bands year off.

The loved-up pair, spent yesterday making final preparations, for their secret nuptials, and even had time for sunbathing, and a spot of watersports.

Some of the boys, including Kian's, fellow band member Mark Feehily and his partner Kevin McDaid, had a ball speeding around on jetskis, in the clear blue waters.

Kian and Jodi also took part in a rehearsal, for the ceremony followed by a diner with friends and family.

Meanwhile a huge security operation was underway on the paradise island, to protect the couple’s 900.000 deal with UK magazine glossy OK! Magazine.

Whilst the magazine is keen to keep under wraps the location, The Irish Sun has learnt that it is just a short drive from where they have based their dream wedding.

The couple are expected to exchange vows under a floral arch facing the shores of the Caribbean around about lunchtime.

Guests will be hidden from public view, and ushered into coaches under tunnels of black cloth before being whisked of to the ceremony.

An excited Jodi headed off for the wedding destination last night with her bridal party including her mum and sister by her side.

The sexy baby left, future husband Kian, to enjoy his last night of freedom with is family and friends at the hotel.

There were no signs of nerves from the other side, after spending nearly 2 weeks relaxing, together at their dream destination.

Meanwhile the last guests started to arrive yesterday, on the island.

Nicky Byrne was the last Westlifer to arrive, and make an appearance, with wife Georgina for a weekend in the sun.

They left two year old twins, Rocco and Jay at home.

Band manager Louis Walsh, later arrived from Miami, and checked into a hotel 5 miles from where Jodi and Kian are based.

Even he has no idea where the wedding will take place. Hollyoaks star including curvy star Carly Stevenson, and her soap boyfriend Ricky Whicttle cause a stir with their beach bods.

One onlooker commented, “I have no idea who they are but they look good.”

Jodi’s Irish girlband pals arrived at the island on Monday, and revealed they can’t wait to watch their bandmate tie the knot.

Brunette Sharon Condon, revealed "It has been such a fantastic week so far, and we can’t really wait for the wedding.”

And fellow band member, Corrina Duran, “Its a dream really, we were all out on the boat, snorkelling and having a laugh. There’s a really good party vibe."

“We are going to take it easy to the big day. The sun can really zap your energy.”

They have been putting on amazing parties all week.

Westlife hunk Kian Egan and sexpot Jodi Albert, were soaking up the Caribbean sunshine ahead of their wedding today.

Former Hollyoaks babe Jodi Albert, and Sligo singer Kian Egan, are due to tie the knot in a paradise ceremony.

Jodi looked stunning as she showed off her curves, on the white sandy beaches of Barbados.

Joined by fellow Hollyoaks actress Carly Stevenson and Ali Bastion, Londoner Jodi wowed holiday makers in a pink bikini and diamond belly button ring.

As Jodi topped up her year around tan, boyband fiance Kian calmed his nerves by having a spot of snorkeling with bandmates Shane FIlan and Mark Feehily.

"They have been having a ball” said one holiday maker. Kian and his mates have been thrashing around on jetskis, and splashing each other in the pool."

"Jodi and her pals have been sipping cocktails and sunbathing."

The source added "Kian and Jodi are obviously deeply in love, they’ve been smooching in full view of their guests."

The celeb couple have been thrilling their guests, by laying on a series of no expense spared parties over the past few days.

On the eve of the nuptials, the bride and her gal pals were pampering themselves, with luxury spa treatments, at their plush Taramind Cove hotel retreat.

Meanwhile, the groom indulged in a relaxing round of golf with friends, at the swish Sand Lane golf course.

Paul Martin’s Barbados diary!

It is easy to see why Kian and Jodi have chosen Barbados for their dream wedding - even with 600,000 magazine deal, they both could not help but feel very laid back in this lovely part of the world.

Do you remember the ad about lilt when a Rastafarian man gets stuck behind women on a donkey on a deserted dusty road and declares its total gridlock? That pretty sums up about this island.

Even the paparazzi around here would tell you there is no need to panic and rush here.

Like yesterday for instance when I went out on a catamaran around the bay with the Westlife lads. Within minutes of heading out on the cruise we paparazzi in hot pursuit of you.

These weren’t your normal fleet street snappers who would stop at nothing to get that big money bikini shot. Instead we tailed by two big Barbadian women, one peddling in a peddle whilst the other opted to chase us in a canoe.

It was like a scene out of Benny Hill. They soon realised they were fighting in vane to keep up with us then they headed back to the beach to a barbecue. No need to panic man...

Then as we arrived back, one of the locals tried to acquaint himself with me on the private beach outside the hotel.

“Me name is Mrrrrrrrrrrrr Reasonablllllllllllllllllle.”, he told me, putting his fist out to hit mine, and adding for good measure, Global peace Man, Global peace.

He helpfully continued. "If you need anything, anything at all just ask for Mrrrrrrrrr Rasonabbleeeeee, and me will come to you brother. Until then you chill out man..."

Just as I was thinking the Barbadian folk are about the friendliest bunch of people I have ever met, since my last visit to Donegal, Jodi and Kian put me right over breakfast.

"When Mr. Reasonable says anything at all, what he really means is any kind of drugs at all." explained Jodi.

"There’s also a man running around calling himself Da Medicine Dr. And he doesn’t mean, a box of parcetamol or rennies."

It looks like I still have a lot to learn, on this island. And there was me just hoping to get my hands on a can of lilt.

Is that so unreasonable...

A wedding gift from Paddy Power betting

There's no question as to what Kian and Jodi's most unusual wedding day gift will be. A betting docket that could be worth £50.000 Euros to the couple.

There is just one problem… The couple’s first child will have to either become Taoiseach or play rugby or soccer for Ireland, for them to pocket the big day payout.

Bookies Paddy Power sent the gift to their hotel yesterday with a 100 euro stake.

Kian said, "I’m holding onto this, and going to hire the best soccer coaches in Ireland for the young one. When we have a young one that is."

Waves Of Joy

Bouncers and security will patrol the waters, of a Barbados beach on Jetskis, as Kian Egan and Jodi Albert tie the knot today.

A huge security operation will be launched today, to keep the paparazzi away as the Westlife singer, and his beautiful bride, exchange vows, in front of 120 friends and family.

The couple have sold the exclusive picture rights to OK Magazine for 600.000 and are desperate to stop pictures leaking out.

A 20 strong security team, will guard every corner of their wedding retreat, and lock down the surrounding area.

Even Westlife band manager Louis Walsh last night admitted, "I have no idea where it is. I’ve just been told to meet them at a hotel and go on from there."

Guests will be transported to the venue by black out coaches, and led through a covered tunnel area, to the venue where they will be treated to a six course gourmet meal cooked based on traditional Caribbean cuisine.

As the final touches were put in place for the big day, the happy couple joined pals, to lap up the sunshine, Jodi, 25, showed off her figure to die for, as she hit the beach for a bikini stroll.

She wondered along the golden sands, in a switching 33 degrees Celsius sunshine, at her Tamarind Cove hotel hideaway, while 29 year old Kian showed off his beach body by hitting the waves, and spent the afternoon jet skiing, and surfing with his fellow bandmates.

Last night band manager Louis Walsh flew in from Miami, while Kian’s bandmate Nicky Byrne, and his wife Georgina, jetted in from Ireland just in time, to join a final knees up, and celebrate the groom's last night of freedom.

Kian and his pals all gathered for traditional rum cocktails, in the hotel pool bar, and staged a late night karaoke session.

Jodi spent the evening surrounded by her girlfriends and family for a pampering and beauty session in her suite.

Jodi's dress is being kept safe by her mum, but sources say she will wear traditional white and have flowers in her hair.

Westlife star Kian Egan was exchanging vows with stunning Jodi Albert this afternoon.

Jodi became the third member of the exclusive 'Westwives' club, following in the footsteps of Georgina Ahern and Gillian Filan.

The actress (25) and the singer (29) were set to tie the knot during a touching ceremony in Barbardos.

Details of the wedding were shrouded in mystery in the run-up to the event as the couple were keen to protect their reported deal with OK magazine for €900,000.

However, it is believed that the loved-up pair's nuptials were planned for Irish billionaire Dermot Desmond's Sandy Lane Hotel. The luxury resort is just a short distance away from where the couple had been staying.

However, a wedding and magazine deal seemed to be the furthest thing from their minds yesterday as the pair took to the beach.

Pretty Jodi, sporting a pink bikini, was joined by Hollyoaks co-stars Carly Stenson and Ali Bastian. Meanwhile, Kian showed few pre-wedding nerves as he enjoyed a spot of snorkelling with bandmates Shane Filan and Mark Feehily.

The couple were expected to say "I do" under a floral arch on a beach.

A team of more than 20 security guards has been flown to the island to ensure that nothing spoils their big day. The group patrolled the grounds of the wedding venue to keep the paparazzi away.

Guests were expected to be driven to the top secret wedding destination in a series of blacked-out coaches in a bid to shield them from public view.

Kian and Jodi have remained tightlipped on the details of their big day in order to protect their big-money magazine deal.

Last night, Jodi headed to the mystery wedding destination with her mum and other members of her bridal party while Kian enjoyed his last night as a single man in a hotel, with family and friends.

Guests were arriving on the holiday isle all day yesterday. Nicky Byrne and wife Georgina Ahern arrived for the special weekend and band manager Louis Walsh arrived from his bolthole in Miami.

Louis claimed that he was in the dark as to where the wedding would take place.

"I've just been told to meet up at a hotel and take it from there," he said.

Westlife's Kian Egan and fiancee Jodi Albert, have been thrilling wedding guests, by laying on a spectacular series of parties in Barbados.

The couple hired out of a private beach and restaurant to stage a 20.000 euro welcome to Barbados themed party, for their family and celebrity friends.

Guests including Kian's bandmates, Shane Filan and Mark Feehily, were taken to the trendy, Whispers, restaurant, for a sundown knees up Caribbean Style.

Shane who is over with his wife Gillian, and kids Nicole and Patrick, told the Irish Daily Mirror, "We are having an amazing time."

Dozens of stilt walkers, jugglers and fire eaters, greeted guests who gave a standing ovation to Kian and Jodi as they arrived hand in hand, and announced: “We want everyone to have a ball.”

The exclusive restaurant laid on traditional Caribbean food, as guest tucked into rum cocktails, champagne and beer on a beach lit by torch flames.

As the celebrations complete, acrobats dressed in monkey suits, performed daring stunts, and tricks for the 70 guests.

Yesterday as the pals recovered from the late night shindig, Kian, 29, organised a boating trip to show off the sights of Barbados.

On board they were served seafood and champagne, as they sailed on the catamaran until sunset.

Before heading out Kian and his guests watched as Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions league, by Barcelona, in the poolside bar of their plush Tamarind Cove Hotel.

Jodi, 25, sunbathed, with some of her old actress pals. Today Kian and Shane will play a round of golf at the 1000 euro a round gold course at the Sandy Lane course.

When owner Jp MacManus discovered the singer was playing there, he called up and arranged for him to play with three pals for free, with his compliments.

Kian and Jodi are to marry tomorrow.
